At the beginning of the summer I was in charge of organizing an ice cream bar + talent show to help our youth raise money for summer camp. Money was raised through donations made at the ice cream bar, and the talent show was a fun bonus to the evening. Thanks to all those who participated and helped out the event ended up being a huge success both in the amount that was raised and in the sheer fun that was had.
Since food and decorating are two of my favorite things, I assigned myself the responsibility of designing the ice cream bar. I kept things simple, serving chocolate and vanilla as the ice cream selections. However, in my mind there was no other option than to pull out all the stops when it came to ice cream toppings. So, in true fashion we had it all, and it was so worth it.
Ice Cream Toppings:
- Oreo cookies (crumbled)
- chocolate chip cookies (crumbled)
- brownies
- Cocoa Puffs cereal
- Cap’n Crunch cereal
- fresh strawberries
- graham crackers (crushed)
- mini marshmallows
- M&Ms
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (chopped)
- chocolate chips
- gummy bears
- rainbow sprinkles
- chopped nuts
- chocolate, caramel, strawberry, and pineapple sauces
- whipped cream
- Maraschino cherries
To close out the night, Lela and her hubby, Sean, brought down the house with this awesome finale video they created starring Sean and a few of our bishopric members as a prequel to our “dollars for push-ups” contest, which forced a few willing souls to demonstrate their brute strength and endurance by doing 187 push-ups for the extra $187.00 in "dollars for push-ups" tips raised during the course of the talent show.
This event was so much fun, and the perfect fundraiser idea for everyone involved!
Gorgeous ice cream bar, Steph! Almost too pretty to eat! (Almost.) ;) (You and Lela look beautiful, too!)
