Reflections: The Law School Years

Well, it’s official my friends. Parker is a legitimate, licensed attorney in the State of California—having taken the oath of office and been sworn in by magistrates of California on June 5, 2013.

For the better part of our marriage, law school has been our lives. We started and finished the journey together—he a student, I an employee in the Alumni Relations department. Fortunately this opportunity to be by his side spared me the common feelings of “widow-dom” that many spouses loathe during the grueling law school years.

Our adventure began down in Old Town at the rather seasoned digs and culminated in the East Village at the brand new, state-of-the-art facility. I made sure to inscribe our legacy of love on the last beam placed atop the new law school’s structure during the topping out ceremony.

In between all the classes and studying and work and internships (including a summer in Las Vegas and a study abroad in China), we enjoyed many lunch dates together, as well as student and alumni events (i.e., balls, baseball games, golf tournaments, etc.). Through it all, Parker and I made many fond memories and friends that are sure to last a lifetime.
