A Magical, Swirling Sensation

On 30 June 2013, at 18.5 weeks pregnant, I felt my little one move around inside my tummy for the first time. It was a magical and surreal feeling and one that I will never forget. Since about week 16 I had been watching and waiting for any sort of unusual feeling (most women compare the feeling to gas bubbles) that I could identify as the baby; but I hadn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary.

But, just when I least expected it, I was sitting there at church (a little teary-eyed about being released from my calling with the youth and thinking about how much I am going to miss them), when I felt my little one stir inside me. Though I had never before felt that sensation, I recognized it immediately and giggled with excitement before leaning over to let Parker know what had just happened. It was the most magical and magnificent feeling—a swirling sensation of sorts. It was just what I needed in that moment, and I think my little one knew that. I'm already so in love.
