Halloween 2013

I love Halloween and all of the make-believe and imagination that comes along with it. I always get so excited in anticipation of the perfect costume, but then usually end up throwing something together at the last minute. That was the case this year; but I was pleased with the results in the end. Parker made his own costume from start to finish and was really proud of it. It was adorable, and the kids absolutely loved it. My only regret was not having gumballs to hand out to all the kids who asked me for one.

I am a huge fan of group costumes and thankfully Parker is generally a sport and goes along with my ideas (even when I ask him to paint his face or wear something silly out in public as I have done in years past). Exhibits A and B below:

 Halloween 2010 - Peanut Butter & Jelly
Halloween 2012 - Dia de los Muertos Skeletons

Halloween itself was a blast. We celebrated with a few friends over a delicious and festive chili and cornbread dinner. The cornbread was my contribution, and it seemed to be a hit.

The kids could hardly contain their excitement at the dinner table. They were just too darn excited to get out there and start trick-or-treating. The attempts at photographing costumes were just as challenging. It was pretty much the cutest thing ever—with superheroes, ninjas, and pirates bouncing all over the place.

Happy Halloween!
